Surf Rescue Certificate
At age 13 you can become a Cadet Surf Lifesaver by completing your Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC). Over a period of 6-8 weeks, this season times will be 9am-3pm every Sunday, you will be provided with the skills and knowledge to be able to participate as a Cadet in Life Saving operations and join a patrol team at Narrabeen Beach.
The course covers: Safety and wellbeing | Surf awareness and skills | The human body | Resuscitation | Defibrillation and basic oxygen techniques | First aid | Communications | Rescue techniques | Beach management
You must be at least 13 years of age to complete your Surf Rescue Certificate.
Bronze Medallion
Prior to becoming a Surf Lifesaver you must complete your Bronze Medallion. Over a 6-8 week period, typically held with mid-week theory and weekend practical application, you will be provided with the skills and knowledge to be able to participate in Life Saving operations and join a patrol team at Narrabeen Beach.
At the completion of your course you will have gained a nationally recognised qualification (Certificate II in Public Safety – Aquatic Rescue). The Bronze Medallion program includes:

Bronze Medallion fee is $100 ( includes manual and mask) plus you need to purchase a Hi Vis Vest for $15.
Provide First Aid (Previously Senior First Aid)
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to manage emergency first aid situations until professional medical support is available. This course is typically delivered via a pre-course online workbook and a one day workshop and is held on a regular basis at SLSNSW.
Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and application of oxygen, airway management devices, and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation, and to administer oxygen to conscious and unconscious breathing casualties. Upcoming course dates will be announced depending on numbers.

IRB Driver / Crew
IRB Crew Person Certificate
You must be proficient in Bronze Medallion, and minimum age of 15 years.
Want fast access in the water? Learn to crew the Inflatable Rescue Boats through the surf and carry out some quick rescues. This course is typically run over a number weeks with training sessions on weekends, as well as some weeknight theory sessions.
Silver Medallion IRB Driver
This advanced course is one of the most demanding in Surf Lifesaving. Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive an Inflatable Rescue Boat in surf rescue operations. This is an estimated two month course with training sessions largely on weekends.
