21st birthdays

We do allow 21st birthdays with some restrictions.

The booking period is 5 hours (4 hours drink service).

The hirer is obliged to employ at lease two registered security staff. (see below for recommended companies)

In any event, the hirer is reponsible for all persons attending, whether invited or not. 

Restricted functions

Bookings will not be accepted for:

  • Birthday parties for children aged 12 – 20
  • School formals, formal pre and after parties
  • Functions without responsible adult supervision
Alcohol

The hirer should be aware that the venue is licensed and that alcohol may be served for a maximum of 5 hours only.

Our bar staff hold Responsible Service of Alcohol certification (‘RSA’) have overall supervision of the bar and are there to ensure the Responsible Service of Alcohol. Any direction / decision by our bar staff in relation to the service of drinks is to be followed and is final.

The hirer will be obliged to purchase beverages from Narrabeen Beach SLSC. No alcohol is to be brought into the premises (unless by previous approval by the Licensee).

No alcohol is to be consumed outside the premises or in public areas.

Children

Children on the premises are to be under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times. Hirers must ensure that children are not placed at risk upon entering or leaving the venue.

Animals

Except as allowed by law (eg vision impaired assistance) no animals in the premises.

Exclusive Use

Your function will be granted exclusive use of the function space for the time specified, as we only allow one of the two function rooms to be booked at once.

Please note though, your function is within an operational Surf Life Saving Club building and lifesavers (and others) may be present in other parts of the building or the environs, especially during patrol hours.

Parking & Transport

We have a Council parking area directly outside our club. It is free with a Council Beach parking permit, or via purchasing a ticket from the machine. Free un-timed is available on the surrounding streets.

As with all beach parking areas, parking can get quite limited in Summer months.

The Narrabeen main bus stop is a short walk from our Club. Catch the B1 bus from the city or other buses from Manly or Chatswood and transfer at Dee Why. Find out about bus transport options and timetables.

Information for hirers

Access and keys

A code to the keysafe (located adjacent to the entry door) shall be made available to the hirer for access from 7am on the morning of the function (or an agreed earlier time).

The key must be returned to the keysafe when you unlock the front door of the building. Please do not take the key upstairs or you might lock yourself out. The key must not also leave the site. Loss of the key will incur a charge of $100.

The code may also be given to suppliers, caterers, decorators, musicians – others you have hired for your function who may like to deliver / setup.

Cleaning

A professional clean is included in your hire fee.

The premises and facilities must be left in a reasonably clean and tidy condition by the hirer, prior to vacating the premises, with the tables and chairs returned to the position in which they were found.

The timber floor should be swept (not mopped)

All rubbish should be removed from the function space and placed in the external industrial bin or appropriate recycling bins. Any glass breakage and/or spills should be cleaned up immediately and not swept off the balcony onto the grass or carpark below.

Balconies should have any glasses, bottles etc removed and should be swept.

Should anyone be sick or otherwise foul the premises in any way (for example, but not limited to, the toilet areas, balconies, stairs etc) the hirer shall be responsible for cleaning same. If not done the extra cleaning fee of $200 will apply (deducted from the bond).

Kitchen and bar floors should be swept, benches should be cleaned and sink strainers emptied according to the instructions provided. If this is not done, the extra cleaning fee of $200 will apply (deducted from the bond) 

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted inside or on the balconies and should be at least 4 metres from the building entrances.

Care of premises

Tables and chairs must be lifted and carried (not dragged across the floor).

Outside hire equipment should be checked as to suitability for use and should not be capable or damaging walls or other fixtures or fittings.


Catering / use of kitchen

BBQs, spit roast or the like may not be used anywhere on the upper floor (including on balconies) nor anywhere else inside the building. If used downstairs (outside the building), the area must be protected from fat and grease dropping and cleaned after use.

Fridges should be emptied, turned off and doors propped ajar with wooden wedges provided.

We have a commercial dishwasher available to use. Please bring your own tea towels.

We would prefer that you take leftover food home rather than throwing it out. We recommend that you bring extra containers, cling wrap etc for this purpose.

Fire equipment and exits

No items shall be placed in front of fire exits or obstruct clear access to the fire exits.

Except in the case of a genuine emergency, no person may use or attempt to use or interfere with any fire house or fire extinguisher.

Music and noise

Music and noise are restricted to a reasonable level. All music and noise must cease by 9pm Sunday to Thursday and by 11pm on Friday and Saturday. The level of noise emission from any band, musical instruments, DJ, recorded music or sound-producing activity within the venue shall not exceed normal background noise level, when measured at the nearest boundary of any residential property.

Decorations

Decorations, pictures, signs, banners etc may not be fixed to be any painted surfaces by any means nor fixed to glass surfaces with adhesive tape. Nothing is to be attached to any fixtures or fittings.

The hirer shall not affix bills, posters, signs, decorations, bunting or draping which in any way defaces the building or premises. Nails, screws or similar fastenings are expressly prohibited. No twine, fishing line etc may be attached to any light fitting.

Confetti, flower petals or the like are not permitted in the building. 

Open flame candles are also not permitted.


Uncollected goods

Any goods, including but not limited to, food, drink, decorations etc left in the premises after occupancy, without express prior arrangement, may be removed and disposed of at the discretion of the venue manager without compensation to the owner or personal responsible.

Prohibited substances

The hirer is not permitted to take into or use, or allow to be taken into or used, the following substances within the venue and grounds:

  • any type of firework or flammable substance
  • any toxic or dangerous chemical
  • any illegal substance.
